Ammunition Dump Explosion

24 July 1917
Continued the march through Dickebusch and then across broken country to out old tunnels at ES09 (Spoil Bank). There has been a lot of shelling here since we left. Close to the Brick Stack a dump of 9.2 shells has been blown up and the hole was almost the size of a small mine crater.
Richard van Emden (ed.) Sapper Martin [Bloomsbury 2009] p. 88

Mislabelled on a sign board as a shell hole, this is the result of an ammunition dump explosion.

Later in 1917, as seen by an Australian photographer.
