Visible to artillery observers at Hill 60 and on the White Chateau ridge, Lankhof Chateau became a gun ranging target and quickly became structurally unsound.

This chateau was on a small island with a water filled ditch around it. After the chateau’s demise, a fan of bunkers was built in its place. These were captured by the final German advance in April 1918, and remained a front line position until the following September.
